Infrastructure Projects

A large part of what the FCSS identified over the last 10 years is creating new student spaces for academics and student wellbeing. 

Check-out below all the space projects we would love to fund coming soon.

Student-led Cafe/Eatery

The FCSS wants to fund a student learning and living lab for our Nutrition and Food, Occupational Health, Public Health, and Urban and Regional Planning students. This student led cafe will create campus jobs for students, and real word experiental learning experiences for students.

Sleeping Pods Project

The FCSS Recognizes the need for sleeping to combat compassion fatigue. This is why it is one of our main priorities next year with the levy to secure over 5 sleeping pods. Plus more in the years to follow for the growing demand.

DCC Table Project

The FCSS recognizes the DCC is brand new, yet also a very empty building. The FCSS will work with community partners once the levy is collected to ensure each floating bench in DCC has laptop tables so students do not need to drag massive tables over constantly.

The FCSS recognizes the DCC is brand new, yet also a very empty building. The FCSS will work with community partners once the levy is collected to ensure each floor has even more comforatble seating across the floor space. Especially on Ground Floor, Floor Two, and Floor Eight.

Hive Lounge in EPH

The FCSS recognizes that the EPH is one of the oldest buildings on campus. The FCSS will work with community partners once the levy is collected to ensure the Social Work floor has even more comforatble seating, bright lighting, and a new eatery.

Living Wall in SHE

The FCSS recognizes the SHE building is turning 20 years old in 2023. With that in mind the building recieves lots of stressed out students, and lighting. An inside living wall will help relieve the stress from students studying in the building.

The FCSS recognizes the SHE building is turning 20 years old in 2023. With that in mind the building recieves lots of stressed out students, and lighting. The furniture in the building is starting to show its age, and fall a part. The FCSS wants to do something about it, and introduce new long tables, plant life, and comfortable chairs, tables, and couches.

FCS Prayer Room

The FCSS recognizes the need for prayer and meditation space on campus. The FCSS will be advocating for a inclusive accessible room in both the DCC and SHE/EPH to house such a space.

FCS Student Club Kiosk

The FCSS recognizes the DCC is brand new, yet also a very empty building. The FCSS will work with community partners once the levy is collected to ensure student clubs within the FCSS umbrella are given spotlight, and a place to sell apparel, or run a bake sale.

Zen Garden

The FCSS recognizes the need for physical space that reconciles with multiple communities, and provide a welcoming home feeling. The FCSS will work with key stakeholders, Arc.Soc, MUES, the ASA, and FMD to plant a Zen Garden on the path in between EPH, Monetary Times, Architecture, and Pitman Hall.

Indigenous Garden

The FCSS recognizes the need for physical space that reconciles with indigenous communities, and provide a welcoming home feeling. The FCSS will work with key indigenous stakeholders, George Brown College, Deans Office, Indigenous Students Association, and FMD to plant one infront of EPH/SHE.

FCS Computer Lab Reno

The FCSS recognizes the need to re-invest in the FCS dedicated computer lab in Kerr Hall. The current space is un-inviting, dark, and out-dated. The FCSS will work with FMD, Deans Office, and the Library to re-model the space.
